Jelly Reader Update
Let's dive right in!
The team has already laid the groundwork for a co-op mode in Jellystar Empires, and once singleplayer is fully polished, we'll be going all in. In co-op, you and your friends must outlast waves of increasingly destructive challenges, such as galactic events, bosses, and other elite enemies. After that, we may have a free-for-all or other PVP mode, where you must collect enough jelly points before the enemy players in your server to win—or just, you know, kill everyone and implode their home planets. That would work, too.
On the topic of bosses and other special enemies, we'll be adding boss units to the alien shipwrecks and pirate warships as a fun challenge to obtain relics. We're also thinking of incorporating space monsters! Something cute and tentacled, like a space Cthulhu, perhaps.
One update we’ve already added to Jellystar is schematics. These are trooper upgrades you can find by studying asteroid belts on the map, bringing the schematic to a planet with a laboratory, and then unlocking it via research. Upgrades include stealth, buffs to attack speed, and more.

Now, perhaps your ears perked at the mention of galactic events.
None have yet been implemented, but we are actively discussing various possible world phenomena, from huge anomalies to bizarre space weather. These could be random or timed, with each event sporting unique effects to spice-up the playing field and entice players to adapt their strategies. In addition, we will soon be adding a giant jellystar to the map, which will act as a centerpoint and may also play a hand in some of the galactic events.
To dive into the art and animation side of things, our artist is working overtime to deliver various assets. First, she’s finishing the full animations for the human faction, including my absolute favorite Jellystar character, Catboy. Second, she is designing the faction-specific buildings for the space bunnies, including their custom spy school, garrisons, laboratory, and more. Third, she is drafting the looks for the rest of the dozen or more secret relics, which are the ancient and powerful remnants of an alien race whose origins and history are almost entirely unknown. She also plans on revamping some of the relics you’ve already seen to make them even more fun. There’s much more on her plate, of course. These are only the immediate focus.

Finally, we've updated the Jelly Reader! We’re actively streamlining the UI, playing around with its colors, button configurations, visual and sound effects. If you’ve taken even the slightest glimpse at some of Jellystar’s gameplay, you’ll know we’ve designed the Jelly Reader after a retro computer. It features a tape recorder which saves and replays your recent battles at will, a side-screen for your activity log, as well as a radio that you can toggle for different background songs, all of which are original soundtracks made by our sound engineer.
