Well, well, here we are!
The time has come to share Jellystar Empires with the world, a project we have kept close to the vest up until this point. To bridge the gap between ourselves and whoever out there might enjoy our game, we've put together this wee website. It will sport not only our studio events, but also document the entire evolution of our work, from its programming to its animation, as Jellystar Empires inches closer to launch. Expect exclusive game clips, animation snapshots, and of course, regular all-around updates.
Our team of five in sunny California has been working on Jellystar Empires for over a year, including two industry veterans—a programmer from Blizzard and a game designer from Riot—one artist, one sound engineer, and myself, the extra special social media manager. This project has presented a lot of firsts for the team; in fact, this is where our artist actually learned to animate, and what a splendid job she’s done! We also happened to start up Jellystar in the same time generative AI has taken the greater creative world by storm.
The gaming industry, in particular, is transforming rapidly. Some of the biggest titles have turned to AI to replace the entirely irreplaceable human hand, a trade-off noticed for its dents to quality. The resulting pressure on indie developers to ‘get with the program,’ lest they fall behind, is overwhelming, but we knew we wanted to build our vision from the ground up, and most importantly, without cutting a single corner.
We believe the labor is integral to the art itself, and across Rat Wrath are years of expertise, from programming, all manner of design, to voice acting—a mash-up of exactly the right skills to create a world like Jellystar: a treacherous, hand-painted trek across stars and planets with histories unimaginable.
We want to share our game with as many RTS and art lovers as possible, so feel free to follow our progress, chime in, and if you like what you see, please spread the word!
Until next time,
The Rat Wrath Team
